SPIN.com Editorial Internship

Basic Information:
 
SPIN is seeking interns with strong backgrounds in writing and a serious interest in music and youth culture for editorial intern positions. SPIN employs interns during its Spring (January to May), Summer (June to August), and Fall (September to December) programs. Interns work 16-24 hours per week (two or three full days) and will receive college credit. All editorial internships are completed at our New York offices in Manhattan. SPIN does not provide housing or travel assistance.
 
About the Intern Program:
Interns are responsible for transcribing interviews, researching stories, updating release and event schedules, running errands, organizing mail, conducting interviews. Interns also pitch and write stories for SPIN

Celebuzz, an established celebrity news and pop culture-focused site, is looking for an entertainment writer. The writer will discover, pitch and write stories that are relevant to what is going on in Hollywood, as well as being able to monitor and anticipate trending topics and produce timely, clickable stories based on trends in the entertainment industry. The staff editor reports to the Editor-in-Chief.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, communications or similar media degree, and an enthusiasm for pop culture, entertainment and fashion. Knowledge of AP Style is preferable. Experience with daily news at a website is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • The writer will write breaking entertainment news stories and features.

  • Support the Director, Programmatic Sales with the execution and maintenance of ongoing accounts

  • Cross-check weekly programmatic revenue report for finance
