After a successful partnership with Mayer Hawthorne for Gap’s styld.by, a new online platform showcasing the latest looks from Gap, Buzzmedia was selected to begin another round for Gap’s Fall collection. Focusing on our ability to identify the best emerging artists today, we partnered with Chris Chu of Brooklyn’s POP ETC as our model.
You may remember that before they were POP ETC, the band played under the moniker The Morning Benders, having attained popularity and cred in the indie world through their seminal album Big Echo. Unfortunately, they later learned that “bender” is a homophobic term in some parts of the world and decided to change their name and sound to match. Now, POP ETC are bringing that indie cred to their bigger, more 80s pop sound, and we gotta admit, we’re digging it.
Check out some of the photos below and head over to the first two of three blog posts we’ll be featuring exclusively on Stereogum here and here.
