BUZZMEDIA Will Be An Official Media Partner for Social Media Week in NYC

BUZZMEDIA is excited to be an official media partner for the 2011 Social Media Week with events taking place February 7-11th in New York City.   BUZZMEDIA will be hosting two informative panels focused on music and celebrities in social media.

Tuesday, February 8, 9AM – The Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy of Social Media as Music’s Savior

Today, hitting the music jackpot no longer (necessarily) means a big label deal and the Rolling Stone feature. Social media affords up-and-coming artists the ability to build followings and acclaim outside of the traditional gatekeepers—labels and media. BUZZMEDIA editors and tastemakers from leading music sites weigh in on what it takes to break through using social media. What works and what doesn’t. Who’s doing it well. What can and should aspiring artists do?

Speakers:

Moderator: Jeff Leeds – Editor in Chief, Music – BUZZMEDIA

Angel Laws – Founder and Editor in Chief, ConcreteLoop.com

Jessica Suarez, Writer, Stereogum

Tamar Anitai — Senior Editor, MTV.com

Rob Bonstein, Senior Director of Digital Marketing, Epic Records

Wednesday, February 9, 9AM -Tweet Like the Stars: Celebrities Using Social Media to Successfully Build Their Brands

Celebs are among the savviest users of social media—bypassing the paparazzo publications to speak and interact DIRECTLY with their fans. Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and others have used it successfully to build their brands and embellish their marketability. Some like Ashton Kutcher and MC Hammer have used it adroitly to reinvent themselves and to stay relevant. BUZZMEDIA, who has been responsible for helping to building the online presence for more than a dozen leading celebrities including Kim Kardashian, discusses who’s doing it right and what we can learn from their examples.

Speakers:

Moderator: Mike Porath, SVP Programming, BUZZMEDIA. Previously Mike was Editor-in-Chief of AOL News, and has also worked for ABC News, NBC News and the New York Times.

Mike Hess, Managing Editor, Celebuzz

Eloise Parker, Features Editor, OK! magazine

Bonnie Fuller, President and editor in chief, Hollywood Life

Rob Shuter, Columnist, AOL’s PopEater
