Buzznet.com, a community of pop culture addicts, music loves and trendsetters who come together to share content around topics they are passionate about, just relaunched with a brand new design and new functionality. The launch was covered by TechCrunch, in a story that revealed many of the site’s new key attributes.
Thew new design personalizes the user experience more than ever before, and through the concept of “following” and fandom, publishes completely customized feeds of socially programmed content to users based on their preferences. Users can easily find the most popular and recommended content, follow and converse with users that have similar passions, join groups, and express creativity through journals, photography and videos.
What’s New:
The creative Buzznet community is bound by similar interests (music, art, fashion, photography, movies, television, celebrities, etc.) and the site also has a deep editorial layer with original content created and recommended by real editors. Essentially, the new Buzznet blends the best content creation, sharing and consumption tools with the most important social networking tools to build the ultimate “socially programmed” experience.
• The site’s most popular functions will be updated and placed at the forefront—giving users more power not only as content creators but ultimately to curate their own individualized experience with custom-made content feeds on the topics, or from the people, they are most interested in.
• Users will be able to create their own content in new ways—
o The “Hot Now” section on the homepage features the biggest trending features / topics currently on the site.
o The new reblog feature allows users to create a channel that reflects their personality and taste without having to post any original content.
o Users will also be able create a custom content feed when they follow other users or follow topics that appear on other contributors’ blogs.
o Users can now easily add media to comments
o The site also allows Facebook Connect commenting and sign-up authentication.
In this unique social media model, users experience a collaborative swarm of content programmed by other users (including bands, artists and fans), super users (who work directly with Buzznet on special assignments) and staff editors. The ability to follow a user means tapping into their channel. Users see updates from the people they follow on their homepage and in the footer that follows them around the site. Users that gain many followers will influence the overall direction of the site as they themselves will be trending under “most followed” on the Buzznet homepage.
Additionally, Buzznet has tapped a new executive editor to oversee the changes, Aviva Yael. Aviva has been an editor for Vice Magazine, Inc. and the Huffington Post and has written for The New York Times, Gawker and MSN’s Wonderwall.com.
